Start Acting Today

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE AN ACTOR?

Acting in Film, TV & Stage.

Many people dream of becoming a celebrity and everything that goes with it. People only see the sparkly glamorous aspect of being a celebrity but don't see the hard work and preparation that goes into it.

Why do you want to be an actor? You need to ask yourself this and once you determine why you’ll be able to build a business plan that will help you get there. I encourage you to try it out for at least a year before you go any further and see if the demands and hard work is good for you.

If the pressure is too much, there might be something you can do to carry on, or this may be the point where you say, 'never mind'.

However, I know that if your answer is, "I want to be an actor because I am an actor. That is what lies beneath me." then I urge you to continue and never give up. Because try as hard as you might, the dream will never stop haunting you.

If you want a quick guide to becoming rich and famous, you can stop right here. This blog is to help you get in front of agents with the experience they want to see on your resume, with the headshot they expect you to have and with the training they expect you have completed.

Before you go out to look for an agent, you have to find your type, your niche and know your brand. An agent does not want to work with a newbie who has no idea how to handle acting as a business. An agent is not a baby sitter and an agent is not an acting coach or an instructor.

I’ll teach you exactly how to be agent-ready with this blog. Your success in getting signed on with an agent depends on how much hard work you put into accumulating credits to put into your resume. Agents shy away from signing people on who have no training or no experience. Whether you start with student films or theater or both, a working actor is better than a non-working actor.

This blog was written for the new actor or an aspiring actor; this is the blog I wish I had when I started my acting career 15 years ago. The business of acting is not a common subject that is taught and starting an acting career without a business plan can leave you feeling like you’re going around in circles wasting time and money.

By the time you finish this blog, you will feel ready to take on the world, or at least the industry right here at home, Texas! The following pages will show you the basic workings of the business so you can start your acting career today. If I had this blog when I first started out my career, there is no telling where I would be right now.

Please understand that this blog is designed to answer the most immediate and basic questions that will get a new aspiring actor from daydreaming into taking action.

Only you can make that switch by reading this blog and many other books out there that have more advanced topics once you outgrow this blog. Also, please note this blog is only about the business of acting. I don’t teach in depth any methods or techniques to acting.
